I made my dog yelp?????!?

He's 4 months old. He was sleeping on the couch and i had to take him off so a grabbed his collar and took him off. And when we got up to the stairs he wouldn't go up them so i pulled a little and then he yelped and now he looks really sad. The reason i was taking him upstairs was because his crate is up there, and if he is not in it he will use the bathroom on the floor. But i feel bad. :(
